Ag Open GPS is an open source guidance system developed by a farmer on Manitoba and maintained by a team of techy farmers around the world. Open source means that the program (app) is available free and the electronics and gadgets that make it work are documented and available. I felt there was a need to have a planter monitor feature so I began work on one. Skipping a bunch of history, the current app runs at the same time as the AOG outosteer and overlays windows on top of the AOG screen. It does not modify AOG. My monitor requires "my" control box hooked to the normal planter harness and communicates with the Windows tablet via UDP (with an Ethernet cable). I had one farmer testing it in the spring of 2026. I plan to enhance it by Spring of 2027 and make it available to a limited number of farmers.
